There was a time when people did not know what internet was.
Slow and stealthily, technology took it's pace and the use of internet started
mushrooming everywhere.
Science and technology in India has always been a far cry. Though we kept pace with world's technology but at a much slower rate than the other nations. Foreign technology grows in a denial driven mode in India, due to lack of resources and security.
India has always been slow in terms of telecommunication technologies. The first 3G network in the world were streaming by 2001. While the world started moving to 3G networks starting 2005, it happened in India by 2009, with the help of BSNL.
4G speed in our homeland is ranked the last in the list. Even less developed nations like Sweden and Taiwan have greater 4G speeds than India.
With the growing pain of technology in India, we need a lot to know about 5G in India.
5G networks are the next generation of mobile internet connectivity, offering a wide range of advantages over 4G and 3G networks. They'll be far better than the long gone mobile networks in terms of fast download, smoother streaming online, high quality voice and video calls, more reliable mobile connections, and expansion of advanced technologies like automatic cars.
5G deployment in India is driven by the need of enhanced mobile broadband capabilities as well as industry solutions for efficiency and automation.
Telecom giant Airtel and Huawei have conducted the first trial of 5G networws in Manesar, Gurgaon.
Airtel recently entered into a strategic alliance with South Korean firm SK Telecom to leverage the latter’s expertise to build advanced telecom network and together work in developing 5G technology, network functions virtualisation, software-defined networking and Internet of Things.
The setup included 5G RAN operating on 3.5 GHz band, 5G Core and 50GE Network Slicing router.
The 5G test speed was found to be 3Gbps, whereas Indian customers get 4G speeds of 6.07-10Mbps. 3Gbps was the highest measured speed throughput for a mobile network in 3.5GHz band with 100MHz bandwidth, and end to end network latency of approximately 1msec. We have always been a little late, in terms of technology, but now India stands a chance to get 5G technology with the rest of the world, as the country enters an era of Internet Of Things.
We got 2G networks after 25 years, 3G after about a decade, and 4G after 5 years of it's global launch. Indian government wants to deploy 5G across the country by 2020.
“The promise of 5G is endless; it will be a game changer, and it will change the way we live, work and engage,” he said. “We look forward to working closely with our partners for developing a robust 5G ecosystem in India.” says Abhay Savargaonkar, director- networks at Bharti Airtel. He adds, that 5G networks may offer a data speed of hundred times than what 4G could offer.Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan recently said the department was expected to finalise a roadmap for 5G services by June this year.
We definitely cannot wait to surf at high speeds, and download HD films in seconds. Internet is a boon for sure.
