How to improve English?

BY- AADYA MAGOTRA

English is the third most spoken language in the world. It is a language which is spoken in about 50 countries around the world, that means about 350 million people speak this language! It is an undeniable fact that English occupies center-stage position in today’s business world. Hence, being fluent in this language has become an important thing in today’s world. Learning a new language can be a daunting task, but the thing with English is that, once you learn this language you can learn several other languages too! English can be improved in several ways, some of the ways are listed below:-
1)Speaking in a new language like English can be a little tough and it also requires a little practice and patience. So one should resolve to speak in English no matter how many times he/she stops while talking. You can also try speaking English in front of the mirror as a practice session.

2) One can take English classes or can also learning from sources like the Internet. Watching videos in the language you wish to learn can prove to be very beneficial as it helps in learning the language faster!

3) Reading books, newspapers or blogs online also helps improve one’s English. One can come across several new words or phrases by reading.

4) One should learn to be an active listener. Like two sides of a coin, speaking and listening both help a person to have a better grasp over the language. Listening in fact, gives a person insights into the subtle nuances of sounds, tones and rhythm of the English language.

5) In order to build vocabulary, one should maintain a separate book wherein he/she can note down the pronunciations and meanings of all the new words that they come across. One should also try and use those newly learnt words or phrases into daily life speech.

6) Lastly, one should be willing to make mistakes in order to learn English. So after making any mistake in written or spoken English, one should always keep in mind to never repeat the mistake.

Hence, learning and improving a new language like English, requires dedication and a will power to never give up! Learning and improving a language is not an easy task, but it is surely worth all the effort!
