VARIETY OF MUSIC IN INDIA AND ABROAD






“To, music propounds its variations in giving a vibrant feeling by touching souls and reaching out to people in its own way of making an Individual, listen to one’s choice!”

Music differs from one place to another.  In India there are multiple varieties of folk music like Dandiya, Garba, lavani and so on…

“Dandiya” is a devotional garba dance, performed in honour of the “Goddess Durga”, this form of music is dance oriented and is also called as the “Sword Dance”.

“Garba” is also a dance oriented, which is performed during the nine day of the Hindu festival called “Navaratri” (nine nights).

“Lavani” is an energy booster performed along with the dance; this particular music/dance became popular during the rule of Peshawar dynasty in Pune. The word “Lavani” is derived from the word “Lavanya” which means “Beauty”.

According to the traditions followed, and keeping up with the culture, these music’s are being played when, a certain celebration calls for. Apart from this, Filmy music, Indian Rock, Indian Pop, Bollywood, Rock Bands, and Metal Music are quite popular in India. Bollywood Music holds the major credits of listeners in India.

Classical Music in India such as:

1.      Hindustani Music, a vocal centric which holds seven pitches called “Swara” and are also classified in “Raga’s”, and

2.       Carnatic Music which concentrates on two particular elements called “Raga” (melody) and “Thala” (Rhythmic Cycles).




In Abroad the popular music to which people listen to are:


1.      Hip-Pop (Origin: Caribbean’s), which consists of stylized rhythmic music along with rapping.

2.       Jazz (Origin: Africa and Europe), considered by many as “America’s Classical Music”.

3.      Pop (Origin: The U.S and U.K), an electric music abstracts the styles of Urban, Latin, and Country.

4.      Blues (Origin: African Americans), this particular music is called “Blues” as it refers to a person who is been going through depression or bad times.

5.      Reggae (Origin: Jamaican), a dance oriented music which explains the lifestyle in Jamaica. 




There are several other Music’s like EDM and Rock (Origin: The U.S), Country (Origin: Southern U.S), Grupera Genre (Origin: Mexicans), Arabian Music, Soundtrack and certain Classics too. Most of the youngsters prefer listening to Pop and teens prefer listening to Genre.

Not everyone is fond of a particular music at all times, as time passes by, the trend keeps changing but, some of the Indian music or the abroad music still remains evergreen to which people would love to listen for a longer span of time.

Lastly, when there are no words to express, that’s where Music speaks….
