In India there are multiple varieties of folk music like Dandiya, Garba, lavani and so on… “Dandiya” is a devotional garba dance, performed in honour of the “Goddess Durga”, this form of music is dance oriented and is also called as the “Sword Dance”. “Garba” is also a dance oriented, which is performed during the nine day of the Hindu festival called “Navaratri” (nine nights). “Lavani” is an energy booster performed along with the dance; this particular music/dance became popular during the rule of Peshawar dynasty in Pune. The word “Lavani” is derived from the word “Lavanya” which means “Beauty”.
